As we settle into our new home in Japan, we’ve invited a guest author to highlight a region that we always hoped to visit during our time in Europe: the Turkish coast. Guest author Derya writes on behalf of Thomas Cook to promote her favorite region of the world, Dalaman. Enjoy!
If you’re after a sizzling summer escape with lashings of culture and stacks of things to see and do, Dalaman holidays will be right up your street.
This fabulous corner of Turkey, also known as the Turquoise Coast, is home to just about every type of holiday resort imaginable. From quiet and secluded to bold and buzzing, it’s all here. You’ve got non-stop Marmaris with its pubs and clubs, and lively Hisaronu which serves up plenty of lively cheer both day and night. For something a little more traditional, head to lovely Atakoy for a laid-back lifestyle and local charm. Or try Icmeler and Olu Deniz for sheer knock-out beauty.
Something they all have in common is their great blend of beaches, where golden sands melt into sparkling shores and sunbeds line up under cloudless blue skies. The scenery is fantastic, and looks like it’s just jumped straight off a postcard.
Hotel-wise, there are plenty of options to suit your mood and your pocket. If you’ve got the kids in tow, you’ll find a superb selection of hotels offering kids’ clubs with great childcare teams and packed activity programmes – they’ll be so busy playing games, learning new sports or making friends they’ll forget that you’ve sloped off to enjoy some peace and quiet.
And if you’re planning a romantic escape just for two, Dalaman is full of sumptuous hotels and secluded retreats. Or of course if budget is high on the priority list, why not rent a self-catering apartment and shop in the local market for delicious fresh ingredients? Then you can whip up a storm in the kitchen and enjoy a tasty, low-cost meal which really gives you a taste of Turkey. Regardless of where you stay, the fresh and healthy Mediterranean cuisine of this region will leave you feeling reinvigorated in no time.
With all these experiences on offer, when will you make time for a holiday in Dalaman?
